Proper treatment is vital to recovery after a car accident. There are many things that can help someone recover well, including doctor or chiropractor visits, medication, rest from hard labor / work, but physical therapy adds a component to put some of the recovery in your own hands!
Depending on your diagnosis, physical therapy treatment often consists of the following components:
01
Pain CONTROL
This often includes soft tissue mobilization (massage) to reduce tenderness, and the use of electrical stimulation and hot or cold packs to reduce pain.
02
Stretching
Many times, after an accident you have neck or back pain and a lot of muscle tightness, soreness and stiffness. The stretches are designed to specifically target the muscles of concern to relieve the pain and let you move better!

03
Muscle Activation
Certain muscles become weak when we are in pain and stop using our muscles normally. After a whiplash injury, the muscles on the front and back of the neck are sore, tight and weak and need some exercises to get back to normal.
04
Functional Training
This encompasses a wide range of tasks that we can work on to help you as an individual get back to normal life. If you are having pain or problems with working often we focus on gradually returning to lifting, carrying or other similar activities.
