We’re family and we’re friends, and we pride ourselves on creating a fun, happy, uplifting environment for our patients and employees. We are passionate about the health and wellness of our community in Salt Lake County, Utah, and beyond. We strive to provide excellent care to every person coming through our doors.

John D. Sonnenberg, MD – Orthopedic Surgeon & Medical Consultant

Dr. Sonnenberg is a board certified orthopedic surgeon and fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons. He trained in general orthopedics and specialized in shoulder and hand surgery. He practiced orthopedics for 35 years in Chicago and has recently relocated to the Salt Lake Valley.

After graduating from Brigham Young University, Dr. Sonnenberg attended medical school in Chicago at the University of Illinois as an Edmund James Independent Scholar. He was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society while at the U of I. He completed his orthopedic residency at the University of Pittsburgh mentoring under the legendary Dr. Albert B. Ferguson. Dr. Sonnenberg received specialty hand surgery training in the University of California system.

In addition to his orthopedic work, Dr. Sonnenberg served as a combat surgeon for the US Army. He completed tours of duty in both Afghanistan and Iraq and was retired from the service with the rank of Lt Colonel. Dr. Sonnenberg earned his Combat Medic Badge for service under fire. This is one of his most cherished distinctions.

In his spare time Dr. Sonnenberg enjoys playing ice hockey. He also enjoys opera and theater with his wife Theresa, and spending time with their nine children and fifteen (and counting) grandchildren, most of whom live in the Salt Lake area. Dr. Sonnenberg frequently travels to Hawaii and has made a hobby teaching about Astronomy.

Brock Bodily, Certified Physician Assistant

Brock Bodily is from Pleasant Grove, Utah, and completed his bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science from Utah Valley University in 2016. He graduated Magna Cum Laude with his Master of Physician Assistant Studies in 2019 from the MGH Institute of Health Professions in Boston, Massachusetts. Brock’s favorite areas of study were surgery, orthopedics and any other hands-on work.

Brock is an accomplished ballroom dancer, even appearing on Dancing with the Stars in 2011. Brock is married with three young sons. In his spare time, Brock enjoys hanging out with his family and golfing.

Stephanie Trout – Registered Nurse & Wellness Specialist

A native of Boise, Idaho, Stephanie graduated from the University of Utah with a bachelor’s degree in Exercise & Sports Science with a minor in Nutrition. She is currently pursuing another bachelor’s degree, this time in Nursing Sciences.

Stephanie enjoys traveling with her husband, exercising, and spending time with family and friends. She also has an adorable labradoodle puppy, Scooter!

Matt Sonnenberg – Practice Administrator

Matt is a Chicago native who relocated to Salt Lake City. He attended Utah State University, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in Journalism and Communications. Matt was also a finalist for the USU’s Man of the Year award. He spent four years running an independent sports publication that earned brief mention in USA Today, Sports Illustrated, ESPN.com, and The New York Times. He has worked extensively in digital marketing, and recently interned as an Orthopedic Office Manager.

Matt also has been a two-time competitor on NBC’s American Ninja Warrior, competing in 2014 and 2015. In his spare time he plays ice hockey and is a dedicated YouTuber to his continually growing online following.

Kelsee Hyde – Front Office Coordinator

Kelsee has more than ten years of experience working in health and wellness. Born and raised in the Salt Lake Valley, she completed her associate’s degree at Salt Lake Community College in 2013. Kelsee is passionate about helping others succeed and is actively involved with the community. She coaches boot camp classes in the evening and is currently a 200-hour Yoga Certified Instructor, which keeps her busy when she’s not in the office.

Her passion for health and fitness is something she has made a lifestyle out of and she loves helping others get back on track with their own healthier lifestyles. When she isn’t teaching or working out, she enjoys traveling and spending time with her Shorkie puppy, Lennon. 

Heather Strong – Billing Manager

Heather is another Chicago native who enjoys living in Utah. She received her bachelor’s degree in Communication from the University of Utah. Heather has nearly 15 years of medical billing experience including insurance claims, eligibility, authorizations, and credentialing. She understands the ins and outs of our society’s complex healthcare system which is important to the flow of our office.

Heather is bilingual in Swedish and English, and she was an accomplished athlete back in her prime. She is married with kids, cats, and an adorable Shiba Inu puppy. Heather loves writing, watching sports, running, hiking, visiting national parks, road-tripping, and being in the mountains.

Zoey Baker – Office Administration

Zoey Baker is a Utah native and student at Salt Lake Community College, pursuing a degree in nursing. She is our youngest team member, but don’t be fooled by Zoey’s youth! She is an ambitious go-getter, always eager to expand her skills by learning new things.

Zoey loves animals, especially cats, and hanging out with family and friends. Zoey’s favorite places to travel are Hawaii, Chicago, and the family lake house in Michigan. Zoey is always cheerful and makes amazing videos on TikTok!
